Woo Hoo, Finally Started a Blog

I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while, for a few reasons/purposes, and finally got around to it this evening on a whim.

I’m hoping I stick with it. I don’t know if what I’ve got to say is important enough for anyone to want to read, but having it out in the open might make me stick with it!

Some of this will be random musings or rants or just writing down what’s in my head. Sometimes I might delve into discussing serious issues – I think about it, then I’m not sure if I can do it right or will just sound stupid. And I might get back into practicing my fiction writing.

So on the off-chance anyone does read this and wonders who I am exactly, I guess I should introduce myself. I’m currently a university student, although I seem to be slowing down my studies in favour of work (that whole having to afford food thing, haha), I’m a programmer and a geek. I have an equally geeky partner – although his calling is modelling and animation rather than code – and an adorable little dog. I’m a feminist, and try to learn as much as I can about equality issues and put what I learn into practice (like trying to remove misogynistic and ableist and such slurs/insults from my vocab – I’m working on it, but don’t always pick it up), and I’ve started following a bit of politics. Oh yeah, I’m Australian. Pfft, I don’t know what else introduces me really… I’ll probably end up ranting at some point about medical issues, so: yeah, I have some of those.

Erm, that’s really all I can think of. It’s 2 hours past my normal bedtime (yay for having to get up at 6am most days -.-), so I’m going to cuddle up and finish an episode of Farscape before bed.
